Carmine Selvaggi is an accountant with ties to two organized crime syndicates, one of which is now all but dissipated. He has been married twice and appears to be in the process of divorcing his second wife, though nobody really knows just what is happening between himself and Francesca at any given time. He is the on-staff accountant for Famous Vito's Pizza, where he's also sometimes known to work behind the counter.
History
Carmine Vincenzo Scarletti Ricci Selvaggi was born on July 30th 1967, right smack-dab between his older brother, Angelo, and his twin sisters, Maria and Rosita. His family had loose connections to the mafia from the beginning, as his father, Renaldo "Rin-Tin-Tin" Selvaggi was a hitman for one of the lesser-known families in the greater New York area. Because of this, Carmine learned very early on the importance of loyalty and of keeping one's mouth shut. He was also imbued with a strict sense of honor and taught the "eye-for-an-eye" mentality that he still maintains today.
As he grew up, Carmine was sent to several good schools, which he attended with great enthusiasm. Thanks to an ever-supportive mother, he made good grades, though he was never at the top of the class. As he aged, he began to formulate great plans for his future career: a doctor, a pilot, a teacher. With each passing year, his expectations grew lower and lower.
At the age of eighteen, just before graduating high school, he met Brandi Cavallo, whom he began to date. Theirs was a whirlwind romance full of all the youthful vigor that one would expect from two horny teenagers. After six months, they professed their love. After a year, that love budded in the form of an unborn child. Nine months later, after a hasty wedding ceremony, Nadia was brought into the world. Carmine worked hard to get himself through school, helped in no small amount by Brandi's family, who had slightly better connections in the organized crime front than his own. He went with a sensible profession: accounting. Gone were the days of the doctor, the pilot, the teacher. Nearing the age of 20, Carmine had to grow up.
He, Brandi, and Nadia made a well enough living, despite the fact that Carmine was no better than an average accountant. It helped that Brandi's uncle liked that his daughter had married the son of Rin-Tin-Tin Selvaggi and saw fit to hire Carmine for odd little (violent) jobs here and there. Due to his propensity for using a power drill on his victims (something he discovered early on that he liked), Carmine was given the nickname "Organ Grinder", in which he took great pride. He was the favored nephew, he had a wonderful and loving wife, a beautiful daughter. Everything was looking splendid for the up-and-coming mafia man.
But then it changed.
It was very gradual, slowly creeping up over the course of a decade. Carmine started to take less and less pleasure in the screams of his victims. He started to put less stock in the praise of his beloved uncle, and his eye roamed. His marriage became quite strained, though his relationship with his daughter changed very little. The source of this decline was unclear to everyone, even Carmine himself. His spark simply flickered and died out.
The clincher came when Carmine was around 29 years old. The don of the family to which Brandi was connected was arrested and convicted for manslaughter. One month later, he was found murdered in his cell. It started a major internal war within the organization — a war that tore the entire operation apart. The stress, tension, and in-fighting were too much for Carmine and his wife. He moved out to a flat in Queens, where he lived separate from her for quite some time. It was during this time that he met Francesca. Maybe he was lonely, maybe he just didn't have the willpower to fight off her advances, maybe the stars were aligned just right. Whatever the case, he began an affair with the woman despite his first marriage not quite being officially finished. It just so happened that Francesca had mafia ties of her own — a different family than the ones with which Carmine was familiar. After things became serious between himself and his new woman, Carmine came home one day to find a document envelope in the mail. Brandi had filed for divorce.
Several grueling months later (in which he lost custody and visitation of his daughter), Carmine was a single man once more. To top it off, Francesca began to bother him about marriage and making her "stop living in sin". It took a good long while before Carmine was willing (read: fed up) and bought a ring. Unfortunately, Francesca's father wouldn't give his blessing, and without the blessing of her father, there was no way Carmine could marry her. Fortunately, the problem took care of itself when Francesca's father was killed in a car bomb, along with her brother. The new head of the family, Tommy Moretti, was more than happy to give his blessing to Carmine and Francesca. They sealed the deal not long after — but now a few years later, there is trouble in paradise. Francesca and Carmine tend to clash. A lot. Divorce papers have come into play, but as yet, nothing has been made official. As heated as their arguments get, passions still tend to flair, and not of the violent variety. Only time will tell if this will be enough to keep the pair bound together.

Quotes
- "F-R-A-N-C-E-S-C-A. She's my wife. She's a bitch. … She shot me in the leg once. An' she does this thing with a stapler. But she's really pretty." —drunkenly describing his tattoo idea and his wife to Sal.
Trivia
- Kittens!: Carmine has a major soft spot for cats and owns a total of three, ranging between the ages of 18 years and six months.
- Feel That Beat: Middle-Eastern pop and folk music and most music with Middle-Eastern influences are Carmine's preference as far as music is concerned. It's rare that he indulges in music, but when he does, it's usually in private.
- Smell That?: Though he would never admit to it aloud, Carmine's sense of smell has dulled in recent years. He's not as proficient at picking up scents as other men of his age.
- Not 400 Babies!: Due to a desire to never have more children (and most especially not with his current wife), Carmine had a vasectomy not long after his proposal to Francesca. Now he is quite sterile.
- Ink'd: As of July 2007, Carmine has a tattoo on his left pectoral. It is a fire-engine red power drill at ¾ angle with the name "Francesca" drawn in cursive across a banner over the center. It would be quite bitchin', if it weren't so ridiculous.
