Darcy Mochrie is a photography student living in New York City. Also a dealer, preferring a more morally grey mode of existence. He currently lives in the Lower East Side, and you can mock him for his Jersey accent, if you'd like.

History

Darcy Mochrie figured there were two reasons in life to run to New York. The first was, you hated your parents. This, Darcy didn't. Having looked after him from age 9 and onwards, he had a lot of love and respect for his foster parents - respect because he knows -he- wouldn't wanna look after him. Before that, Darcy doesn't remember that much. When his mother entered a rehab program, he and his sister were shunted off to foster care, and for a while, they remained together, but constantly traveling. But it didn't last - they were split up eventually, around when Darcy was seven, and he hasn't been able to keep in touch with his sister since.

A couple of years later, the Mochries took him in, and he made his home in New Jersey. And this is where we approach the second reason one might run to NYC: you lived in New Jersey. He waited until he graduated highschool in that dorky square hat and uncomfortable shoes, before kissing his Ma on the cheek, shaking his Da's hand, and heading off to Live Dangerously in the big city with a few friends in a wreck of a flat. His plans consisted of drinking, mostly, then meandering on back towards higher education and becoming, well, something respectable. This all went awry when he discovered he didn't want to.

One could say Darcy fell in with a bad crowd, but after a while, he became one of the bad crowd. He worked as little as possible and phoning home for as much cash as he could get away with, and eventually stealing his food rather than taking it to the checkout and shoving cash towards drains such as Booze, Rent and Other Sustenance (in that order). The drug trade was an active one, providing you didn't get caught and subsequently made very inactive indeed, and Darcy found himself making a slightly tidier living running errands for dealers and doing his own share of dealing as well as a spot of using

It wasn't a lifestyle Darcy ever particularly wanted to leave behind. Even after he went back to college as a part-time student, even after he'd gotten some cash together to move into a less shady, less roommate-filled apartment, there was always that link between suppliers and users he had become savvy enough to fill. And it was around this time that he started getting a grip on who he was - not just some kid from Jersey, not just a free-loading student, not even just a drug dealer. Something just a little bit more… special.

Darcy came to discover an ability that was useful in many circumstances - the ability to temporarily wipe the memories of those he encountered. He had been able to do this for a few years now, perhaps a year before he had taken off for NYC, but only recently has he been able to really put a phrase to it. He's had no intention on trying to develop this ability, trying to research it - he could give a rat's ass. Instead, he made petty use of it - policemen forget why they had knocked on his door, the guy behind the checkout isn't quite clear if Darcy had taken two cigarette packets or just the one he was holding up. Aside from the occasional backfire - some people get angry when their mind decides to skip a few minutes - it's proven to be an all around useful little ability.

It's starting to take a little more control, however, and create lasting impressions that last a little too long. Darcy doesn't really want to hurt anyone, despite his prickly exterior, but more importantly, he doesn't want it to get out of control. So in his usual calculated way, he's starting to sniff out other people who might be in a similar situation, or people perhaps have answers he doesn't have. Perhaps this wouldn't have happened if he'd have just got to Delaware instead.
