The Continuation

October, 2007

  • 2nd - Merry Happy. Nathan and Mara meet outside of their favourite diner and discuss a recent development, and not-so-recent developments.
  • 2nd - Showoff. A chance meeting with that teleporter. Nathan arrives just as she flings herself off the Empire State Building. Why do people keep doing that?
  • 3rd - Somewhat Enlightening. So how's that whole saving the world thing going, Peter? He tells Nathan and Cass about it. Seems like when one thing is figured out, life throws another curveball - or several.
  • 5th - Tumbling Down. After an ominous text from Peter, Nathan's paranoia proves correct when he shows up before Peter can die a third time at the hands of the villain Mandy, wielding a shotgun. Remember: shoot the hostage.
  • 5th - Support Structure. Nathan takes Peter back home, where Heidi is waiting. Everyone tries to deal with what just happened.
  • 5th - GNOME VENGEANCE. Upon coming to see Peter, Elena gets her gnomey comeuppance. Nathan says nothing. Heidi— says way too much.
  • 7th - Outlook Not So Good. After feeling not entirely well over the last couple of days, Nathan decides to go see Cass about that blood sample.
  • 7th - On The Waffles. Nathan proposes a new beginning to Heidi over waffles. Even a lolvirus can't get in the way.
  • 8th - Dreams Made Real. Peter calls Nathan from Bat Country Labs to confirm that there's more to his symptoms than the common cold.
  • 8th - The Here And Now. After the previous phonecall, Nathan joins Peter to spend the night at the labs in semi-quarantine. They play Monopoly, and Nathan tells Peter something he needs to hear.
  • 8th - The Growing Numbers. Cass returns to discover Nathan has situated himself at the labs. Elena and Ramon are then tested for the virus, and after Nathan goes to call Heidi about where he is, it's discovered that Elena is infected too.
  • 9th - Timing. Quarantine talking with Peter. Time ticks on.
  • 10th - Crowded Clinic. Eric, Claire and Sharon all show up at exactly the same time. Party in quarantine! Peter and Nathan talk to the non-Petrelli rather briefly, and Cass tests some more blood.
  • 10th - Grey. Heidi visits. Nathan tells her there's nothing to worry about. WARNING: this log contains cuddling.
  • 11th - Maybe Miracle Cures. Claire returns to the labs to allow Cass to take a blood sample. Peter is there too, inevitably, but afterwards, Nathan gets a chance to talk to his biological daughter. Like a real conversation, too. Shocker.
  • 13th - The Small Hours. At 4 AM, Nathan and Cass have a conversation, but not after he breaks a few things. Why are they friends? One day, we may even find out.
  • 14th - Carry On. Niki turns up at the Labs, and Nathan is there to greet her. Uh, surprise! After inaccurately citing Niki's apparently tiredness as virus-related, Nathan learns that she is taking medication to fight her MPDish problem. Unexpectedly, he says the right thing.
  • 14th - It's All My Fault. Nathan is woken up from a nap when Peter decides to absorb Samantha Applebaum's ability and yell, therefore wrecking the lab. Oh, hi Sam. After trading verbal jabs with the doctor, Nathan, largely unimpressed with everyone in the room and overtired, leaves before he can get a sense of what the hell just happened.
  • 15th - The What Ifs And Guarantees. Nathan tries to point out the illogic of Peter blaming himself. Even if he did tell him so.
  • 15th - Cure What Ails You. After breaking quarantine with the intent to leave a note, fate dictates that Nathan runs into the teleporting Russian anyway, virus or not. She gives him a cure.
  • 16th - We Gotta Get Out Of This Place. Breakfast with Elena. She gives him a campaign idea to make up for his lack of public appearance in the last week or so, and they talk a little about Peter. Nathan is, again, surprisingly wise. Also, cabin fever must be setting in.
  • 16th - In One Piece, relatively speaking, Jack returns from wherever he's been. He drops by Bat Country Labs, and Nathan debriefs him on the happenings in this crazy town.
  • 18th - The Highs And Lows. Jack comes good on his promise with beer. The two have a chat, but it quickly degenerates into an argument that doesn't completely conclude itself by the time they go separate ways.
  • 21st - Moral Centralia. A snapshot of Nathan and various other Heroes doing things all at the same time to the sound of strummy guitars. Nathan is home.
  • 27th - Can Hurt To Try. Peter doesn't do well with life lessons and Nathan is kind of a hypocrite.
  • 28th - Second Opinion. Nathan meets Dr. Aldric when he comes calling. The news doesn't improve, and there are more questions than answers.
  • 31st - Fed Up. Nathan celebrates Halloween by plummeting out of his bedroom window when he attempts to make a quick flight to the nearest liquor store, the virus having affected his ability.
  • 31st - Dad's Money And Mom's Company. Peter and Nathan yakkity yak on the way to the liquor store.
  • 31st - Poison In Plastic. …and guess who they run into.

November, 2007

  • 3rd - Calling In Favors. Peter gets Nathan to use his police and political contacts to dig up some more information on the people from Mt. Sinai, along with information on the first victim of the virus.
  • 6th - Landslide Luck. After helping Elena when she's overcome by her fever, Nathan finds out that he's won the election. By a large margin. What.
  • 12th - Leads. His called in favors come good, and Nathan delivers the information to Cass. He also runs into Erin for the second time in his life, and manages not to act like a huge dork about it.
  • 24th - Barrel Roll. Busy coming to terms with the fact that his ability is completely gone, Nathan talks to Peter about the situation Jack's landed himself in. Then, a flying lesson.
  • 25th - Less Than Ideal. To catch a criminal… or at least vulture around the paper trail a corpse leaves behind. Nathan approaches Jack and offers his help of political and lawful connections.

Abilities

Ah, the power of flight. This is a relatively straight forward power, the ability to propel oneself through the air via… a lot of scientific jargon that Nathan skimmed over perhaps twice. Nevertheless, here are some details regarding what he can and cannot do.

FLYINK.jpg
  • Rocket Man, the ability to take off like a… well, a rocket. Without any visible momentum necessary, Nathan is able to basically leap into the sky at breakneck speed. A very handy way to get out of a dire situation.
  • Ludicrous Speed is exactly what it sounds like. Once airborne, Nathan can hit supersonic speeds - going past the speed of sound, in other words. This will create an impressive sonicboom. Not a stunt with much finesse, but rather effective all the same.
  • Whoosh! An effective way of describing Nathan's general flying capabilities. This encompasses swooping and landing, and generally takes a little more skill, successes determining how gracefully he achieves maneuver under this category.
  • Hovering sounds simple, but for Nathan, it's not a natural use of his power - he's more familiar with going very fast. The difficulty is set a little higher - he needs to roll a Great in order to do it with optimal control. Anything below is ineffective or he'll take off too quick or something along those lines. Whatever is comic and made of fail at the time.
  • Flying Under Influence is a recently developed stunt. It. Is just like it sounds. A Penalty is rolled along with this stunt in any flying circumstance if Nathan happens to be ver' drunk.
  • Cargo Jet. He's not one. Except when he is. Basically this is when Nathan is flying while carrying another person. The level of success determines how much the extra weight has affected his flying. If the person is both taller and heavier than him, I would likely roll this with a Penalty.
  • Fight or Flight? Let's select the latter. Something seen in canon that that can come in handy in certain situations. It is in essence aerodynamically getting the heck out of dodge without even thinking about it. He needs only to hit a Mediocre to take off - but in this event he won't have much choice over what direction he goes or how far, and he won't land so great. After that the level of success would determine the awesome of his flying. Anything below Mediocre would indicate that he might find himself about three feet in the air before falling back down again.
  • Ramming Speed! …the act of FLYING INTO SOMEONE to achieve PROFIT. Basically a tackle maneuver with adding flying. Success is determined by whether or not the victim achieves the same or outrolls me in a dodge roll.

Trivia

  • Nathan has some awful ties. For serious. One starts to feel drunk if stared at too long.
  • Nathan, as a rule, doesn't smoke. He also doesn't drink. Or, he generally avoids drinking, having had some issues with it in the past, although nowadays he's a little less stalwart. Nevermind. He's uh. Gotten back into the habit.
  • Grey hair count: three. Goddamnit, Damaris.
  • Nathan, in all his educated wisdom, can never get the hang of Monopoly. Or maybe his family is abnormally good at it. Either way, he's semi-convinced everyone cheats, and isn't above doing so in return. He usually picks the race car piece.
  • Nathan and his wild horses have excellent adventures.
  • Nathan does "The Superman" when he pees. No pictures please.
  • Phone No.: 283-6969. People who would be able to contact him: Peter, Heidi, Angela, Claire, Hiro, Noah, Jane, Bob, Mara, Jack, Gabrielle, Rianna, Elena, Elle, Drake, Cass and that liquor store uptown. As well as anyone looking for a good time.
  • Bonus Material: Wherein Nathan discovers Heidi's real name, about a decade ago: When Nathan Met Adelheid.
  • NATHAN HAS A FEAR OF CARS. Well no, he doesn't. However, he now resents driving and will opt for spending the cash on getting driven everywhere so that when the car inevitably does cripple or kill someone, it won't be his damn fault. Plus, he's a little lazy when it comes to navigating New York traffic, but trauma is a cooler excuse.
  • But Nathan isn't always so nice.
  • However, he does own two dogs, Julius and Caesar, almost fully grown Rottweilers. They were more or less a gift to his wife and kids, but in reality, Nathan is their de facto owner - mostly because he picked them out, named them, and when they're not doing important things like destroying his furniture, they're hanging out with him.
  • OH NO!!!!!!
