Oliver is a multi-talented artist, musician, and writer who now lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he works as a desk jockey at a prominent hotel and busks on his free time.
History
Oliver's grandparents moved to the Gaza Strip from Poland in 1967 and settled in Gush Katif. There Arik Pasternack — Oliver's father — grew up alongside his brother, Avram. Unlike his brother, however, Arik had no interest at all in the scientific and a large interest in art. While Avram and his wife, Ilana, moved to Miami, Florida to pursue educations in the scientific field, Arik moved to New York and attended Juliard. He specialized in drama, and it was at Juliard that he met his wife Hannah, who was studying to be a pianist. While attending the prestigious college, the two lovers' indiscretion resulted in Hannah becoming pregnant. They were married soon after discovering this and Hannah dropped out of school to devote herself to motherhood. Their first child, Chava, was born around nine months later.
Arik continued his education at Juliard and graduated not long after Chava's birth. He went to work as an actor but, as is usually the case, he was not wildly successful. Hannah helped support her growing family by finding employment at a local news station as an assistant.
Oliver Twist Pasternack (his name a result of his parents' mutual love for Dickens) was born the second of Arik and Hannah Pasternack's children. At an early age, he and his older sister were imprinted with a love of the arts. Hannah taught them piano while Arik taught them to enjoy the works of classic dramatists from Shakespeare to Moliere to O'Neill. All three of the Pasternack children (Malachi was born after Oliver) grew up in the most ideal setting for any young artist, but only Oliver stuck with it his entire life. Chava went into fashion design and moved to Chicago while Malachi went to Seattle to study architectural design and engineering.
Oliver remained in New York throughout most of his life. He worked hard in school (especially in art classes) and after graduating high school, he moved to Arizona for two years to attend the Art Institute of Phoenix. However, he maintained a close relationship with his parents and siblings and flew back to New York for every major holiday in order to spend time with them. During these trips, he developed a strong bond with his cousin, Eliana, who had moved up from Florida to attend NYU.
After receiving his Associate of Arts degree, Oliver permanently moved back to New York to better suit his personal lifestyle. He jumped from job-to-job while supplementing his income with on-again, off-again performance gigs in the theater and on the street. Currently, he is employed at Noodle Heaven as a sandwich jockey while he works on a true-to-life Broadway musical that he intends to publish someday. Oliver still maintains his bond with his parents, siblings, and cousin, the latter of which he views as a second sister.
