Rochelle Knight is a construction worker and semi-pro wrestler for the NYWL, living near New York City; she is also known openly as an amateur bodybuilder and lifter. One of the freaks and one of the heroes, in terms of her standpoint with the rest of the hidden population. She lives alone with her great dane Oedipus.].
History
Rochelle was born to a large middle class family in rural western Pennsylvania, where she was raised in a semi-Christian community of a similarly middle class. While her general beginnings were nothing to make significant notes on, she did have quite the proficient time with both skills and abilities. At a young age, Rochelle was taught to play the guitar and fiddle by her uncle, who was a woodworker and violin maker, but moonlighted as a folk musician. On the opposite end of the spectrum, from a young age she was always interested in competitions of strength and endurance, as well as sports such as American football. As well as being a very talented defensive linebacker and competitive powerlifter throughout high school, she also kept up a great deal of extracurriculars in terms of her instruments and sometimes, artistry in the forms of work taught to her by the more dexterous parts of her family. At some point before she was out of elementary school, Rochelle started to develop her powers of negation. It started as a simple field and prepared itself for a steady progression throughout the rest of her life.
After finishing high school, Rochelle chose to take after her father and work as a mechanic, handyman, and construction engineer, though quickly decided to take it one step further. At the tender age of 18 and after being trained unofficially in mechanics, glassplant work, and general construction technology, Rochelle decided to move forward in her education. She moved to the New York area to live with her elderly great aunt and pursue an education from there. Enrolling in the Civil Engineering program at Dowling College, Rochelle spent the next years in the system of higher education as nothing but a workaholic, coming out of it at age 24 with a Master's in Civil and Construction Engineering. During those few years, she worked off and on as a construction worker, mechanic, and all-around handyperson in the surrounding area, including New York City. What little other free time she had time was spent as a volunteer and a non-competitive powerlifter. After finishing school, she had little trouble finding jobs in an around the city to pay off what student loans she needed over time. Fortunately, her elderly aunt also had a hand in this, and the sense of family between them and the rest of Rochelle's extended relatives was nothing but supportive.
The death of her aunt left her both a home to keep and very little sharks on her tail; for the rest of her 20s, Rochelle was nearly alone with herself, working and living her life in a manner exceedingly simple to city-standards. With years of work experience under her belt and a collectively helpful family, she makes quite the money working wherever she does, even when at a normal construction duty; Rochelle sometimes relies on many types of blue collar work when other projects are at a low or unavailable. Her low-key lifestyle and tendency for the mundane has allowed Rochelle to keep a very high number on her bank statements so that to her neighbors and co-workers, Rochelle seems far less wealthy than what is truth. At 30 years old she took up competitive lifting once again, and is now a known name within that certain circuit. Though her powers of negation have had little to no real effect on her life, there is a question as to whether that will remain such forever; as of July 2007, she still works in what ways she can, be it what she went to school for, or something sponsored by the world of bodybuilding, wrestling, or powerlifting; she lives alone in the house left to her by her great aunt, with just the company of her dog.
Powers and Stunts
- Rochelle's negation is useful in its practicality, and simple in explanation. Naturally, within a 360 degree, 15 foot radius of herself, Rochelle negates any effects of the Evolved. One negation of power comes in the form of having the person within the allotted space, another in the form of negating effects coming into the space regardless of user location. In essence, Rochelle has spent her entire life living inside of an invisible, anti-power bubble. Objects created with the assistance of an evolved power do not revert, as they have been created into their own independence. With practice, it may be possible for her to control the size and existence of this field, use the field to reflect back the effects of Evolved, or even attach Negation temporarily to a person/
Present Stunts
- Lingering Negation : Those who spend a long period of time within Rochelle's negation field may find that the effect lingers, even after leaving it. +roll is not needed unless the situation calls for it, as the main variable is how long the person spends inside the field in the first place. Successive contacts with the field sometimes lessens the degree of lingering effects once leaving it.
- Negation Field : Influences the size of her innate negation field. She can resize it from it's natural fifteen foot radius or from a larger radius to a zero radius and 'off' without a roll, but making it larger than it is naturally needs her to roll a Good. Each level multiplies the field by two, and that is how far she has the potential to take it. Good = 30' radius, Great = 60' radius, Superb = 120' radius.
- Sticky Negation : Attaches Negation to someone for an amount of time. She only needs to roll an Average, but the person it is attached to needs to roll a Superb in Willpower to escape it when outside of her original negation field. It is inescapable when the person is still within reach. If they cannot escape it, it must be removed by someone with mental manipulation capabilities outside of the field, or Rochelle herself inside or outside of the field.
- Silver Bullet : Turns off another evolved's abilities until she chooses to turn them back on, or someone else equally capable can turn them back on via mental manipulation outside of her negation field. She needs to roll a Great to turn things off and on respectively.
- Ricochet : Snaps the negation field against an invading force in order to fling powers back at the user; a rubber band effect. This affects all powers, mental or physical, and will have the same effect as was intended for the target, unless the user is fully immune to their own power. She needs to roll a Good to ricochet smaller things, and otherwise the power simply dissolves in her field as it would any other time.
Social Circle
- Leah Bristol - Paternal cousin; they are about as similar as cats and dogs, and Leah is a few years younger, but the two are good friends despite all of that. They have recently been getting into numerous more shenanigans, and both women enjoy that fact even if Rochelle would say she was indifferent. She loves her family, and when she can have a good friend too, that is all the better.
- Margaret Goldinger - Rochelle's mother; divorced from her father, living in Pennsylvania.
- Peter Knight Sr. - Rochelle's father; divorced from her mother, living in Pennsylvania.
- Peter Knight Jr. - Rochelle's half-brother by her father; he is in his 40s and has a family and a home in southern New York state.
- James Knight - Rochelle's younger brother; he lives in Pittsburgh with a Nerd Herd.
- Bernice Goldinger - Rochelle's great aunt, whom she lived with for her young adult life and inherited her home from; Bernice is deceased.
- She has masses of extended family members up and down the East Coast, and as far west as Nebraska. "Fruitful" is an understatement.
- Hiro - She knew him from the comic books before meeting him, which does make her feel as if she has known the guy for a lot longer. Hiro and Ando are sticking around her place; this one is currently helping her train her powers(and by association, swordsmanship), and she is simply helping him in return any way that she can. So far it has largely been repaid in taking the role of an understanding friend, and the two are relatively like peas and carrots, even if a bit visibly contrasting. As of late, he has also helped Rochelle realize the importance of her having power; in that she finds herself finding a kinship to the Kensei sword's symbol, 'Godsend'.
- Ando - Ando seems to have come free with the purchase of one Hiro; Rochelle doesn't know him as well as she'd like, but he seems to be more of the brains of the outfit when it comes to the Dynamic Duo, and he is respectful of her enough that they do get along on a friendly level.
- Lee - A civics teacher and a fellow musician; he's close enough with Rochelle that if she were asked, she would label him a casual friend. They aren't that far apart in opinion on the existence of Evolved being somewhat ridiculous, as much as she tries to think open-mindedly. In the end, though, she loves that fact even if Lee does not.
- Peter - The mimic from 9th Wonders and apparent super-everyman, he seemed like a good guy with a lot of things on his shoulders. Recently she did come to know that he was the murderer of Kaito Nakamura- but if he's sick, and not evil, then Peter needs help.
- Gabriel - Rochelle has met Sylar within the pages of comic books, and yet the first time she met the physical body of that man, he was Gabriel. Hiro believes that there is something that Gabriel can do to repay his blood debts and sins, and so does Rochelle. In some terms, she thinks that Sylar met his maker and Gabriel was reborn from that; he has another path now, and she hopes he can make the most of that.
- Sophie - One of the few people that Hiro has brought by to help with powers. A nice girl, but really shy for some reason.
- McAlister - Another stop-in about powers- Eddie likes her the most out of many people that have taken time to visit. She was pretty nice to meet.
- Meryl - The woman shot in a 7-11 by Elle, Meryl managed to express she was a fan of Hippolyta before being carted off by the paramedics. While Shelly looked for where they took her, she was not able to locate the woman again.
- Elle - Elle shot Meryl! And likes Slusho.
- Jane - Hiro's friend, who he asked Rochelle to help out for a time in terms of her being able to hide from people that mayu or may not have wanted to harm her.
- Sharon - Martial arts trainer; went for help on dexterity, balance, flexibility, all that nice stuff that one-punch wrestlers need by proxy in the field.
- Namir - They've encountered each other quite a few times, by accident or by kismet. They don't know each other by name, but they probably know faces.
- Joule - Wrestling league photographer; new face, seems pretty nice. She's paired herself up with Lee, not that Rochelle pries into those things. Good for them, though!
- Lachlan - Met in Central Park walking dogs; Lachlan doesn't know about the negation, but does know that he didn't like it. She knows his name, but he does not know hers.
- Ian - Geek from The Lair. Nice enough guy.
- Kory - Part-time at The Secret Lair, seems pretty friendly, if protective of its denizens.
- Cam - Miniature geek, and everyone's sidekick.
- Cass - Cass is the very shiny person that owns Enlightenment Books.

Trivia
- Rochelle has a place in the amateur and local wrestling ring for the NYWL; semi-pro, some may call it. Fans of the league will know her as Hippolyta. She is unique in the sport for her sheer size and stature; she's even a giant among men, so perhaps this is also novelty.
- She also has a growing presence within the local and regional powerlifting, weightlifting and amateur bodybuilding circuit. She has never been officially measured, but if so would certainly stack up amongst the larger measurements.
- One pet; a fawn-colored Great Dane named Oedipus, who she often refers to as Eddie. He stands around 36 inches at the withers, and weighs almost 200 pounds.
- Plays the fiddle and banjo/guitar, and sings; she is part of a freelance bluegrass, americana and folk band called Poor Man's Dollar; sometimes they are known for doing covers of other genres. They have a style somewhat like an amalgamation of Donna the Buffalo and a dash of classic bluegrass.
- Her vocal range is in the vicinity of a low alto, and she often sings in a more apt Country Music style, but is capable of nudging that mostly aside.
- Drives a velvet red, 2003 Harley Fatboy and a restored, upgraded, brown 1979 Ford Bronco. She has secretly renamed the latter 'Epoch'.
- The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. While she is certainly not a man, the same echoes for Rochelle too.
- She lives at 68 Forest Ave., Massapequa, NY. It is a nice house. With nice things. Pool? Backyard with a canal? Near a beach? Lake? Park? Sure thing. It looks something like this. It's a pity she never has many house parties.
- A casual fan of comic books and graphic novels. Yes, she has read 9th Wonders.
- Rochelle has come into possession of a lot of phone numbers of people she does not know personally, but has kept on hand regardless. For purely practical purposes. (If you were in Peter Petrelli's digital phonebook as of 12/24/07, let me know.)
