After some searching online, KeLyssa meets a Rebel

"A Freeze in the Rebellion"

Cyberspace

Over the last few days, there has been something constantly nagging at KeLyssa's mind, despite her attempts to push it away. Her encounter with the man in the grocery store. She had heard his voice in her head after they had gone their separate ways. Despite what she has tried to convince herself of, she is certain that he actually spoke to her…somehow. Telepathically or some such. If she hadn't had an ability herself, she would have thought she was going crazy. Alas, no; she should not be so lucky. Finally, after memories of that event playing themselves over in her mind, she finally decided that she had to do some research. Yes, he told her to be careful, but he also told her that people like them are being rounded up. She can both do research and be careful, right? After due consideration, she brought out her computer and started to investigate through the internet, see if there's been any unusual disappearances over the last little while or if there was anything else that seemed suspicious. Eight hours and quite a few cups of coffee later, she's still on the computer attempting to find anything suspicious. It's proved harder than she imagined. At present, she's on a few websites of newspapers as well as blog sites, hoping to find even the littlest shred of information.

Across the universe… okay not the universe, the Atlantic, a nearly-fourteen year old boy lays in bed with his laptop propped up on his lap — a surefire way to get carpal tunnel syndrome if he were using the laptop conventionally. His hand rests on top of the keyboard, but Micah's not typing. He's just searching cyberspace through the spaces of his mind — the connection he has to technology.

His eyebrows furrow, however, as he finds something — someone — looking up information on the evolved. With a frown playing on his lips he tries to look at the computer's history. The searches leave him moderately unsettled, and so he considers something. A glance is given to the door before he takes a breath, closes his eyes, and concentrates.

The concentration causes a chat window to pop up on KeLyssa's computer.

Rebel: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

The question is simple. It's in all caps, and it seems to be coming from Rebel, aka Micah Sanders.

And suddenly there's a chat window! KeLyssa looks at it, confused for a moment. Is this for real? She doesn't even know anyone named or who goes by Rebel. A minute passes without a response from her while she calculates in her mind whether to respond or not. She finally decides on responding, but with caution. "I am reading the news." And that's all she responds with for now.

This answer is less than satisfactory, especially for a fourteen year old on the lam so more text comes through. WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE EVOLVED? The caps are demanding, even if the punctuation isn't. DON'T LOOK AT WHAT YOU CAN'T HANDLE.

KeLyssa blinks at the screen. 'Evolved, huh?' She thinks. Well, this could prove to be fruitful…then again, the man in the grocery store did say to be careful. Maybe she should just play dumb? Or maybe not…this could be the source she was looking for. She takes a deep breath in and starts typing: "I am interested in Evolved…because I suspect the government is rounding them up unjustly. I am afraid that the government might be hurting them, and the thought frightens me." She types back.

Micah twitches at the text before he hmms to himself. So many people interested in the evolved. Finally the text comes through again: THEY ARE BEING ROUNDED UP. BAGGED AND TAGGED BY THE GOVERNMENT. CAPTIVE WITH TUBES IN THEIR NOSES SO THEY'RE HARMLESS TO OTHERS. He frowns as he tilts his head. DID YOU SEE THE VIDEO THAT AIRED A FEW WEEKS BACK? IT'S ALL TRUE. EVEN THE GIRL TURNING INTO WATER.

"That is horrible. Absolutely horrible." KeLyssa sighs, shaking her head and pausing for a moment. "Who are you, that you know this?" She types, knowing he'll probably not be forthwith about who he really is. "Do you know how a person could help fight this injustice?"

I AM A PERSON FIGHTING THIS INJUSTICE. THE EVIL EMPIRE IMPRISONED ME AND NOW I'M FIGHTING THEM AS BEST I CAN. Although, he was fighting them before his stint in the Human Resources room. IF I KNOW YOUR NAME I CAN PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE FIGHTING THE EVIL FORCES. BUT THEY NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONTACT OR EXPECT YOU. And Micah needs to check up on KeLyssa first. He won't let his cause fall into a trap if he can help it.

KeLyssa sighs softly. 'It's this or nothing,' she thinks to herself. "My name is KeLyssa Gallagher. I…I am evolved." She responds to him. "I ran into someone three days ago who warned me about all this, and I want to help. I want to stop it."

Micah blinks as his lips quirk upwards into a grin. KeLyssa is Cam's friend, right? Like his mentor of sorts. YES. I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. MY BROTHER KNOWS YOU WELL. Pause. I WILL DO WHAT I CAN TO CONNECT YOU TO PEOPLE. THERE ARE SEVERAL THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR HELP AND VICE VERSA.

If the previous conversation didn't pique KeLyssa's interest, this certainly has. "You know who I am? Who is your brother?" Oh, she's extra curious now. "And of course, I would much appreciate being connected with people. I want to help. No…I NEED to help. I can't just sit by and let this happen. I will do what is needed of me."

CAM. It's a three letter name and vague enough that it could be anyone, but KeLyssa should know who he is. I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO AFTER I SPEAK WITH MY NEW YORK CONTACTS. I PROMISE I'LL TRY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. WE NEED THE HELP. EVERYONE IS GROUPING TOGETHER, IT'S JUST A MATTER OF HOW WE CAN FIGHT THIS GOVERNMENT.

"Cam? Oh my God…" KeLyssa stops…remembers Cam talking about someone he lived with. "Are you…I think I know who you are." She sighs and pauses, thinking this all over once more quickly. "I know that this won't be easy, but I look forward to hearing from and your contacts over here."

I AM WHO I AM. I AM THE ONE THEY CALL REBEL. Micah won't type his name over the computer again. He's done that one time too many lately and he needs to be careful. KELYSSA, I PROMISE I WILL GET YOU IN TOUCH WITH PEOPLE WHO CAN WORK WITH TO FIGHT THIS EVIL REGIME. BUT FOR NOW… I HAVE TO GO. It's time for school. BE SAFE. AND REMEMBER THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE. THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT FROM US. — REBEL After he types these words, he snaps the laptop shut and murmurs to himself, "Charlotte is going to kill me…" before he hops off the bed and into the hall.

Before she even has time to say good bye, Rebel is gone. KeLyssa lets out a long, slow breath. "Well now…life just keeps getting more and more interesting, doesn't it?" She says, closing her own laptop. "I think I need a break from all of this."
