A Morose Task

Angela Petrelli's Office

Company Headquarters, NY

"Send her in," Angela leans ever-so-slightly over the phone on her massive and ornate desk as she holds down a singular button. She's the only one in her office, presently; an office which the young PR agent she's calling in has likely never seen the inside of. The Company chairwoman organizes several files atop her desk, her movements calm and precise, despite the storm brewing around her. She removes a pair of reading glasses from her face, setting them aside and folding her hands on the desk as she waits.

Outside her door, just off to one side, the tall, silent figure of the Haitian stands guard.

Claudine had been busy with school. Since there wasn’t much going on, at least as far as she could tell, she had not been doing much other than studying for school. She's been doing reasonably well, and it was a surprise when she was called down by the Company chairwoman. She comes in dressed quite formally in a pinstripe skirt and matching coat with a conservative white blouse. She wrinkles her nose and opens the door as she peers inside hesitantly. Surely her relationship with an older agent would be known throughout the company by now, right?

"Um, hello ma'am. You asked for me?"

Oh, but there is so much going on. Just nothing that's required Claudine's skillset. Mrs. Petrelli has a smile for the young lady, a cue of welcome. It ought to be a good sign that she's not being called into be accosted. "Yes, I certainly did. Come in, dear. Have a seat."

Claudine does as she's told, taking the seat as she eases on down. Once she's sitting, she crosses her legs to get a tad bit more comfortable while smiling warmly towards the older woman. "What can I do for you?" she asks curiously.

Angela readjusts her hands on her desk, one aging hand over the knuckles of the other. She seems to size Claudine up once the girl is seated, taking her in with the most vaguely of one arched eyebrow; all the while, however, her smile is quite pleasant. "I have a job for you," she announces, sitting up pin straight. "It's a little outside your regular jurisdiction, but you'll make it easy, and right now I need prompt results. Have you ever been to Las Vegas, Ms. Salonga?"

There's a pause as she hrmms for a few moments and runs her fingers through her hair. "Once, when I was much younger. Don't remember it all that well though.." Claudine admits ruefully as she pulls out a pad of paper from her jacket along with a pen to start writing things down.

"You're going to take a trip for me. No need to take notes, I have all the details here." The older woman slides a simple folder across the expansive desk to the edge near Claudine, but keeps her claws on it, pinning it to the desk. "This folder contains an address on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada. I need you to go there— " Angela gives Claudine a pointed look, becoming stern. " —straight there and straight back after you do this one thing. This is a very important task I'm asking of you, and you musn't speak about the contents of this file. Is that understood?"

"Yes ma'am." Claudine says firmly and resolutely as she looks over towards the folder to pick up the desk. she's definitely curious about what's inside, but she isn’t going to look, at least not in front of the bosslady. "Is there a specific person I need to give it to? And I wont tell anyone, I promise."

"No one but yourself." Angela releases the folder and sits against the high back of her chair, folding her arms. "There was, once upon a time, a man by the name of Daniel Linderman. The address is to a cemetery. Go there, find his grave. Open it up. I need to know if he's as dead as he's heralded to be. Use your gift to make it look as if the grave was never touched and be on your way. I'll be sending you a partner, a real agent."

How morbid. Claudine seems a little disturbed by the assignment as she nods and seems to understand considering the nature of her powers. "I'll be quite careful and make it seem as if it was never touched.." she says matter of factly.

"Yes, you will." She had better, in other words. "Call me the minute you open that coffin. I realize that it's a morose task, I'm sorry to have to bring it to you. I must know." A taut smile thins Angela's lips as she regards Claudine. "You leave first thing tomorrow morning. Before sunrise."

"All right. Might I ask who my partner for this will be?" Claudine asks curiously as she continues to sit, not yet standing up considering that she hasnt been dismissed yet.

"His name is Gardiner." Someone Angela can spare to put on an assignment like this. She wheels her chair in closer to the edge of the desk, and after a not in Claudine's direction — in which her dark eyes settle firmly on the young woman's, making quite sure she understands, and satisfied that she does, indeed - she says, "You may go."

Claudine understands. She nods and eases on up as she ahhs. "I'll pack my things and I'll try and make sure no one sees us.." she says firmly and resolutely, giving a salute before heading out the door…
