There is war, and there is chaos. And from that chaos, a new order can arise, forged in the fires of struggle. This is the new order, this is the future of the world. And President Petrelli is the man who will lead us there.

History

Cyprus Donovan was born the child of a travelling salesman and a Ukranian immigrant in downstate New York. His father died when he was young, leaving the care of Cyprus and his sister Corsica to their mother. Cyprus focused his life in college, and became a lawyer of no small ability. He caught the eye of the Petrelli law firm in New York City, and became an associate of the firm. Within a few years, he was made a junior partner of the firm. With the death of Arthur Petrelli, he has remained loyal to the firm, doing his best to salvage the clients, and prevent further hemorhaging of partners to the competition.

Assuming control of the Petrelli firm, Cyprus approached Nathan Petrelli to assist him in his campaign. As loyal to the son as he was to the father, Cyprus was rewarded with a position close to the President, acting as an advisor and personal assistant. He acts behind the scenes and from the sidelines, carrying out the President's will with both diplomats and the media.

Timeline

  • July 28, 2009: Freedom of Speech - Cyprus is present for the insect attack on the Capitol, and is evacuated alongside the President. He is handed the matter to clean up in the public eye, and is swift in finding a cover story.
  • July 29, 2009: Bugged - Cyprus meets with George, Aileen, and Nathan to discuss the matter of investigating the insect attack on the White House. It looks like there is going to be a lot of work ahead for them.
  • July 31, 2009: Breaking Points - Cyprus arrives to deliver news of the investigation to the President, and discovers a rather bad situation. He wakes Nathan up, and they discuss a certain monster who was no longer present. And then, Cyprus is surprised to find out he's heading to New York City.
  • August 2, 2009: A Devil's Bargain - Tracking down a rogue terrakinetic, Cyprus offers a bargain that could be a little too good to be true. The best part about telling the right sort of lies is that they are completely true.
  • August 3, 2009: Round Up The Usual Suspects - Cyprus is called by Claudine. He arrives expecting news on the bugman, but is surprised by different news. Afterwards, he generates more work for the NYC branch of Homeland Security.
  • August 4, 2009: I Would Like An Explanation - Whether or not Cyprus truly has the hardest job in the world, it seems likely that it is at very least one of the hardest in America. Especially when events happen to make it harder.
  • August 7, 2009: Your Words Are Poison - An impossible offer is made, and Cyprus seems willing to live up to his end of the bargain. The question remains, however. What exactly is Cyprus playing at?
  • August 8, 2009: The Very Convenient Truth - Cyprus presents a dubious plan to the President, while the President makes reasonably unreasonable demands of his aide. Cyprus's plans seem to pay off almost unexpectedly, and the President's demands turn out to not be so unreasonable.
  • August 11, 2009: Help Now - Cyprus visits a rather significant rooftop for his own private reasons, and encounters the last thing in the world he expected to find: a hero. Cyprus then goes on to show that he is anything but.
  • August 14, 2009: A Work in Progress - Cyprus attempts to see if Logan's broken toy will work if someone tries being rational. It doesn't. Cyprus needs a new pair of shoes.
  • August 15, 2009: All the King's Horses - With Logan MIA, the other members of the government gather to discuss how to handle the situation. A plan of action is made, a certain disease maker creeps everyone out, and Cyprus handles the matter with, perhaps, a little too much ease.
  • August 18, 2009: The Twelfth of Never - Cyprus catches Kate up on the present situation, and they proceed to learn nothing of great value about it. What they do learn is a great deal about each other. Kate gets her press conference, and Cyprus goes back to trying to keep the country from catching on fire.
  • August 19-20, 2009: And All the King's Men - Cyprus gets shot. And he doesn't seem to take it all that well.
  • August 23, 2009: Whatever It Takes - Cyprus gives a very clear warning for a very cryptic reason. Being shot in the chest, it seems, hasn't stopped him from being so terribly sneaky. Nor has it stopped him from scheming.
  • August 31, 2009: Requiem for a Patriot - After the President was murdered, Cyprus meets with Jack. The alliance is cemented, and the final pieces move into place.
  • September 3, 2009: Bring the Thunder - Cyprus and Jack bring the revolution to Washington, and there was much explosions.

Quotes

  • "I don't care if you have to black-bag his entire family. I want him in my office yesterday."
  • "Get me someone who can walk through walls, then, Margie. Just make sure those pictures don't go public."
  • "There is order, and there is chaos, Ms. Salonga. You may not like the world the President has built, but if you want the alternative…" (as Cyprus gestures towards a dead Evolved who was murdered by humans)
  • Attache to the Cabinet, two seconds before he was shot for being a traitor: "Please! I didn't do anything! I didn't do anything!" Cyprus Donovan: "I know."
  • "Logan changed the world. And there is nothing we can do to change it back. This will not do it. But if we are strong… maybe we can make the world into something better. Something… like what Nathan would have built, if he had had the time."

Trivia

  • While his job description is about as nebulous as it comes, he is rather well-paid by the official payrolls of the White House.
  • His personal secretary, Ms. Marjorie Banks, handles most of his calls and appointments. She is a long-suffering woman capable of delivering the impossible on a regular basis.
  • Needlessly stating the obvious might actually be part of his duties.
  • He seems to have a distinct aversion to the sight of blood.
  • The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots.
