Erin's DARQUE FUTURE

Dark Future Begins

The 'war' started soon after she discovered her ability. Feeling the need to hide it, Erin worked solely on concealing it, and when the need arose to prove that she had an ability to avoid detainment, she couldn't do it. Figured.

Those months were the worst of her life. Suddenly she didn't have everything she wanted. Hell, she didn't even have everything she needed, and was quite vocal about this. She didn't quite lose herself during this time, but it really came close, and Erin found herself once again without friends - and she didn't want any, either. Even if her voice did occasionally help the other detainees get some basic human rights, she kept her distance.

Because of her problem status, she was soon transported to another facility where she'd be in a more solitary environment. Of course she feared this, because despite the fact that Erin didn't want anyone close to her, she didn't want to be completely alone, either. Fortunately for her - unfortunately for the two men transporting her - she finally rediscovered her ability, and two men with automatic weapons and incredible evolved powers went down like a ton of bricks.

With Ebola.

She didn't want to kill them, but it happened, and that's probably what made her lose it more than anything else. Erin escaped the facility, was labeled as a danger, and hunted, but with the sudden re-emergence of the ability to give people terrible viruses, even from a distance, there weren't too many people who caught up to her. Having suddenly got what she wanted - to be completely alone - she was as unhappy as she'd ever been in her life. She wanted to be part of something, she wanted to be able to get close to anyone now, but those she got close to died, or became so sick, they couldn't function.

Then Nathan's people did something smart. Instead of approaching her, they left her a note. Let her decide whether or not she wanted to meet them. It was a choice - something Erin really hadn't had in awhile - which allowed her to reign in the viruses enough to meet with two people who offered her help, security, a job. All she had to do was take care of the President and of her own kind, and she'd be set for the rest of her life. Besides - and this was really what won her over - Nathan watched One Life to Live once upon a time, and he was a huge fan.

She never quite regained her sanity, but she doesn't miss it. After all, crazy people don't know they're crazy.

Quotes

  • "Do you think we're lost?" — to Laurel, Space Cases
  • "Erin? Is useful. Laurel? Is useful. And to be honest, I'd do just about anything to keep myself free. Wouldn't you?" — to Laurel, Space Cases
  • "You'll bleed, you'll hurt, you'll be in agony for at least a couple more days, before there's nothing left inside you to bleed, and your organs shut down one by one. Your kidneys, your liver, your heart. You won't die until there's nothing left of you. Nothing left to go to the afterlife. You'll simply stop existing, and no one will know." — to Persi, ...OF DOOM!
