Part of the Alliance, working in Bat Country Clinics, trying to give her daughter as much of a normal life as possible, Cass has her hands full. That is possibly why she hasn't cut her hair in two years.

Enlightenment Books was destroyed in the apocalyptic storms that raged across New York City. In the aftermath of Nathan Petrelli becoming President and sending all the humans to camps, Cass teamed up with old friends in order to build an underground network of support. It started small, a small group of people out to help themselves and anyone else who needed it. What it turned into was a huge, countrywide Alliance that helps rescue refugees, attacks the governments cells both physically and monetarily, and provides medical care and research to anyone who needs it. Though no one knows just how high up she is, it's known within the Alliance she answers directly to the higher ups, if not one herself.

Laced with both joy and extreme sorrow, the years turned Cass into a much less optimistic woman. Her mother was killed in a fire, set purposefully in her old family house as retaliation. Her father, almost insane with grief, turned into a cynical, almost shell of a man, now serving a different evil empire. Though human, he became a tester, a man who decided the fates of those brought to him. An Evolved designation set them free, a Human one sent them to camps. Faced with having to take this test and knowing that she would fail, she went to her father for one last favor. He took a vial of Lachlan's Evolved blood for Cass' own and officially stamped her as an Evolved Person, sparing Cass from having to go to the camps.

Somewhere along the line, Cass became pregnant. Even during the difficult times and all the odds, she and Lachlan decided to keep the baby and in April, she gave birth to Abigail Deatley, apple of her parent's eyes. Enough to make them smile just thinking about her. Anyone coming anywhere close to Abigail with violence will be dealt with accordingly. It's also given Cass another reason to be optimistic again. Also, no one is allowed to swear or bring weapons near the little girl.

  • "She's going to have a childhood. Just like I did, just like we all did. Just because we happen to live in some sort of hell doesn't mean I can't give what I can to make sure she has that. I'm not having my baby grow up afraid of her parents and her parent's friends because all we talk about is how to kill people."
  • "Oh, hush up you big pansy. You can take a knife and come in worrying about your jacket, but get a little disinfectant anywhere near you and you start crying. Men." - to Jack while patching him up.
  • "You can't engineer a race. Beyond ethics, beyond right and wrong, there are /laws/. Natural laws you're never supposed to cross. Didn't you ever see Jurassic Park?" - about Logan's evolutionary experiments
  • "If you've heard anything about me, you wouldn't try and tell me that. Your selling line's a little off. If humans had started to try and systematically kill Evolved beings, I'd be fighting them, too. We're biologically the same. We have the same DNA, we're the same species, the only difference is we have different genes. You're talking about genocide, about racial cleansing. Evolution happens at the pace it does for a reason. Trying to engineer a species of human Evolved beings is insane. It's not a step forward. You know what happened to species of corn when it became genetically modified to be almost exactly the same? One little virus came and wiped out an entire crop. Thousands starved because diversity was sacrificed for what was considered better for everyone. You're saying the ends justify the means, and I don't find that true. All anyone has is the means." - to Cyprus about evolution.
  • He's just a face in a mirror, Nathan. You're the actual person." - to Nathan on the subject of Logan.
  • "I…why are my pancakes smiling at me? Are—are they happy they're going to be eaten? It seems kind of disturbing." - after Peter made her smiley face pancakes in celebration of her return.
