Just turned seventeen and under a full college work load, Hunter has begun to regret his choice of coming to NYU. His powers, which he still has no idea he posses, have caused him to seclude himself in an effort to fight off their negative side effects. He pushes on hoping to get through this year and looking forward to summer break.

History

A list of different events in Hunter’s life that helped shape who he is today.

Birth

Hunter Moore was born to a Mrs. Leanna Moore of Unity, Maine on March 19th 1993. His biological father, Thomas Swift, hadn't been looking to settle down and as such left Leanna to look after the baby on her own. This wasn't new to the woman; she had already given birth to three children prior and their father hadn't helped her any. If anything it was her who supported the father of the last three but that was before the divorce, before she learned that her husband was a drug dealer. No one could blame her for not seeing it, she had been working double shifts to support the family and didn't have much time to rest, little long keep track of Steven's activities.

That was all in the past, she could focus on her new bundle of joy now. Molly, Joe, and Tom Moore would have a baby brother. Leanna would leave her baby with her eighteen year old son Joe Moore to watch while she went off to work. Having less mouths to feed had allowed her to take one job now instead of two or three, it was Factory work, the type she liked, and the pay wasn't bad either.

Three Years Old

Three uneventful years would pass as Hunter began to grow up with his future close friend Emily Green. Emily was one year younger than Hunter, only two at the time but their parents were close friends and brought the kids over for play dates fairly often. At this time Leanna found a man, Tristan Hodges, who worked at the factory she did. He was a hard worker, something Leanna rarely found in men and this made her decide to not let this one slip away. He began staying over more and more as well as acting as a kind of father figure for Hunter. Hunter also became an uncle at this time. He had two nephews, one from Joe and one from Molly. They were both baby boys born only two months apart from each other. Joe moved into the conjoining house beside his mother to start a family with Amanda Moore, his wife.

Four-Ten Years Old

As another year passed Tristan Hodges moved in with Leanna and the two became almost inseparable. The next six years would pass in relative normalcy. Hunter and Emily became closer friends and went to school together. Hunter grew to be a kind of big brother figure for his two nephews who were only three years younger than him. Dylan Moore and Neelix Jones were there names. Molly Jones, now married, was Hunter's favorite sibling. She always came by to pick him up and had taken him on a vacation to Alabama each summer for the past three years. Being ten now, that made Neelix and Dylan seven and they got along abnormally well. Well Hunter did that is, the two seven year olds did fight a bit as they where the babies of the family. Hunter had learned from a young age how to play nice with the younger kids. They always got what they wanted after all and if you made them want what you wanted then it was a win win situation.

During the summer things would change though. Joe got a divorce from his wife Amanda and she left with Dylan. It was weird not having him around; Hunter had been living with Dylan for most of his life, well beside him. It was hard to get used to and a very emotional time for the whole family. Tristan wanted to move the family about a three hours trip away to live even deeper in the country side. Back to his hometown, the man was going to buy a trailer and use his now deceased grandfather's old land. Hunter was too young to realize what he'd be leaving behind and when he was asked if he wanted to go he quickly answered yes.

His mother thought it would be her one shot to actually own a home instead of have to pay rent on a house and never actually get anywhere on it. So the family decided to move and Hunter was enrolled in the small town school. Hunter didn't know it but that would be a crucial turning point in his life. The boy didn't know the kids at the school very well and missed Emily, Will, Dylan, and all his school friends. He was shy around the other kids but some of them broke the ice and soon he had a few friends… well, more like acquaintances. When the boy got home from school he was faced with nothing to do. No people around for miles, just countryside.

He stayed at his step grandmother's house. Well she wasn't officially that but Hunter saw her as one anyhow. His grandfather on his mom's side had died before he was two and he didn't get to see much of his grandmother. She was sick and in a nursing home. As the year went on Hunter soon realized the kids that he had befriended weren't the type of people he would have normally associated with. At this age clicks were starting to form and jocks weren't his thing. Not that anything was his thing right now. All he ever knew had been changed in an instant and he wasn't sure how to fit in. Becoming more and more introverted the boy began retreating into imagination.

Fifth Grade

In fifth grade he found this amazing book on aliens; it was the first time he played a book in his head like a movie. After that he became addicted to fantasy books and began letting his mind run wild. Around this time he really began focusing on school too. It made him feel good to be called smart and for the teacher's to brag on him to his mother. Being spoiled most of his life; he was pretty good at manipulating people close to him. Especially his mother who was like any other in most respects, you know how it is when it comes to their babies.

Sixth Grade-Eighth Grade

In sixth grade Hunter had made three pretty good friends, but most of the other kids made fun of him for being 'smart' ,or a 'nerd' as they would call it, not that he was. He just paid attention in class instead of goofing off. Looking back Hunter wouldn't be sure if it was the teaseling or lack of social interaction outside of school but during the sixth grade the now thirteen year old couldn't handle school anymore. It was just too much, the same old same old and he missed his old friends. Not to mention his Aunts and other family. His grandmother also died that year, maybe that was what sent him over the edge. Either way the boy begged his mom to let him go back to Unty.

Leanna decided Hunter could stay with Molly Jones, his sister, and go back to Unity by doing that. It didn't work out though; the boy missed his mother too much and ended up calling her on the phone crying. Feeling upset Leanna argued with Tristan tooth and nail until he finally agreed to let her drive her boy every morning to a bus stop. The gas for a small price to pay for Hunter's happiness in Leanna's mind. So Hunter went back to Unity for the remainder of sixth grade and the next two years that followed. The boy wasn't greeted like he thought he would have been. Most of his old friends had gotten into clicks and Hunter no longer fit in. He still had about five close friends and managed to pass the sixth grade barely. The normally A and B student had C's and D's at best that year.

His mother ended up marrying Tristan that summer and that's when she became disabled. Her arms had given out from the factory work she had so enjoyed. Arthritis and Carpal Tunnel were in her back, shoulders, arms, and hands. It was debilitating to say the least and this put his mother in a depression. She would fight for her disability rights for the next two years that followed. Hunter would continue to go downhill from there, his mother was depressed, he wasn't getting spoiled like before, and he didn't get to spend time with his friends outside of school thanks to where he lived. By the end of eighth grade the boy was just barely making it. He would annoy people at school with constant talking because he was so deprived of social interaction at home. This was pushing the friends he did have away.

Freshman Year in High School

Hunter began always complaining at home about how much he disliked living there and how he wanted to move back to where his family was. His mother began working on the chicken farm feeding the animals and things like that now that she was officially disabled but that took its toile. She wasn't supposed to lift over five pounds and was paying for the work she did every night. Her arms would swell and her shoulders would ache. Finally she refused to do the job and this caused problems with Tristan. To make a long story short Tristan was the type of man that put food on the table and that was it. He wanted to split the bills fifty fifty but couldn't now because his wife was disabled. He rarely spent time with Hunter and began hiding tax money from Leanna. He wanted to save the money, watch it grow, and Leanna was just the opposite. In the end the two broke up and Leanna took Hunter to stay with his aunt back in Unity.

In the summer before school was scheduled to start they moved into an apartment complex about 15mins from his aunts. It was just five or so blocks away from his brother Joe who got himself caught up in drugs after he had lost his son. Hunter is tried to go to school as a normal fifteen year old freshman in Maine. His mother had shut down from having her hear broken and the boy was going to have to learn to take care of himself and to stop being so manipulative of his already emotionally weak mother. Hunter was overjoyed to find out he had made it into honors Math and English. His first nine weeks off school went good. That was the school part though. His home life was a bit more eventful. Joe came up all the time acting as if he was the new man of the house and this caused Hunter and him to argue.

During Hunter's second nine weeks of school Joe finally got off the drugs but the damage was already done. He had to have someone over his money and had severe schizophrenia as well as some bad depression at times. He got disability on his mental state and began staying at Leanna's house all the time. His brother became so secluded and in his own world that he stopped going out to get his own groceries and began to increasingly rely on his mother. This upset Hunter and he began to slip at school. He saw his brother as a very capable thirty year old who should be able to do a little bit for himself. The truth was Joe was sick, but Hunter didn't want to accept that excuse as he thought of it. Leanna was now put under huge stress to help out her sick son and still hadn't recovered from her break up.

Hunter ended up getting put on home school during the weeks to come. He couldn't handle everything. He was constantly fighting with his brother and his mother wasn't able to clean the house like she used to. He felt sorry for her and began doing household chores in order to relieve some of the pressure from his mom. The teenage then discovered that home schooling was the worst thing he could have done. No social interaction, always around his mother and brother and not being able to teach himself. It was a nightmare. For the third nine weeks off school he was able to go back to public school. Although he had to drop honors thanks to his lousy performance when homeschooled. The last two nine weeks of school went okay, he passed in regular classes and managed to handle home life with the help of some life skills councilors.

The counseling taught him to take on more house cleaning responsibility and ignore his brother by just leaving or hiding in his room when he came up. Now was the beginning of his sophomore year. Hunter was still upset at his brother for what he thought was taking advantage of their mother. He was frustrated with his low GPA because of not being able to handle school and there was a hole in his heat. Boy's normally had a father at this time in life to teach them to shave and just be there for them in general. Hunter had a deep longing to have someone say they were proud of him, that he was becoming a strong man, but he didn't get any of that. He felt weak and all this was amplified thanks to puberty, which was in full hormonal swing. This brings us to the present.

One Year Time Skip Summary

During the time skip Hunter’s powers activated. This caused him to get intense migraines when he went to school thanks to being overloaded by all the emotions of a classroom of kids. When he went to the doctors to find out what was wrong they couldn’t find anything physically wrong with him. He was eventually sent to therapists who diagnosed him with a factitious disorder which is a disorder where the patient is faking, exaggerating, or even inflicting self injuries. The therapist convinced his mom that nothing was wrong with him and that he was probably just crying out for attention. Later he was also diagnosed with Anxiety disorder because he’d only get the attacks/spells when in crowded public places. The migraines became so intense that Hunter decided he was going to drop out of school, mainly because the headaches weren’t as strong when he wasn’t at school or otherwise in public. Secondly because he had missed so much school so far that he fell behind.

His mother allowed him to drop out because the alternative was either sending her son to a mental hospital or going to jail for him ditching school. She felt something was wrong and wasn’t ready to resort to a hospital yet. During the summer Hunter got his GED and thought about what he wanted to do in life. His headaches had gotten better and he felt like he had to fight his sickness if he ever wanted a normal life. So the boy took the ACT and applied for a college in New York City. Upon being accepted he went to the college that August and began his new life. He still has headaches quiet frequently but is working through them while starting his first semester as a college kid. Now Sixteen Hunter looks to the future with hope.

He still has no idea he has abilities and mistakes other’s emotions for his own. Unless he learns to distinguish what is happening to him he might get swallowed up in the emotions of others. What will await him in New York? Will he ever get control?

Freshman Year in College

Hunter’s powers continued to progress whether he liked it or not. New York City’s mass of people drove him to seclude himself in his dorm when not attending class. He just couldn’t handle getting out and about with in the crowded city. His powers only served to amplify his anti-social antics. The boy stopped making an effort to call Portia and soon the two lost contact with each other. He made it through the first half of school with a 2.3 average. It wasn’t that he slacked off or didn’t study; it was just hard to concentrate on test questions with the collective anxiety of a class buzzing around in his head.

As the second semester began he said good bye to drama appreciation and hello to a beginner culinary class. This turned out to be a bit worse for him in the long run. It wasn’t like he had a stove in his dorm to practice techniques at and having to use the ones offered by the university meant more time being exposed to the various students’ emotions. The teenager seriously contemplated dropping out and going back home. He missed his mother, he didn’t have anyone to hang out with in New York, and the seclusion added to the College workload was wearing him down emotionally. If it wasn’t for the debt he’d already accumulated by going to New York City in the first place then he would have dropped out for sure. With no other options he pushes on, hoping to finish this year with a passing grade, and looking forward to summer break when he can return home to his family.

• Hunter attempts to take a stroll in Central Park to clear his mind. Wouldn't you know it? You can't even get away from the hustle and bustle of the city in a park. September 21st, 2009 - Re-Meet and Greet

• On his way home from the park Hunter has to take his last Tylenol thanks to his persisting headaches. September 21st, 2009 - A Year Later

• Heading to a Coffee Shop to chill until his class starts Hunter gets up the courage to talk with Portia. Lucky for him she wasn't offended and the two hit it off pretty good. Hunter ended up leaving with her phone number. September 22nd, 2009 - Seeds of Friendship

Power

Pathokinesis

This is the ability to psychically manipulate the emotions of others. With a thought, one could make a brave man panic, or cause people to be happy, angry, sad or in love with anyone they desire. One with this ability could cause emotions, negate emotions, or even overload the emotions of other (causing mental breakdowns), among numerous other effects. This ability could be used to cheer up friends, afflict enemies, or the like. This ability is often accompanied by or results in Empathy (sensing emotions) or Apathy (having no emotion). (This is just a rough definition and doesn't really explain what Hunter can and can't do. I've separated the power into categories which each have a desc and stuff.)

Empathic Suppression/Amplification

Empathic Suppression: Is simply the ability to suppress emotions instead of being entirely devoid of them, so that one can live a normal life, but lose the desired emotions as required or wanted depending on the control one has over the ability itself. I would say the max this ability could do is make a person unable to feel emotion for a short amount of time. There would definitely be stamina roles the longer he attempted to keep the Apathetic state active. What he'll never be able to do is shut a person's ability to feel emotions off permanently.(Active Icly but only in a defensive and uncontrolled way.)

Empathic Amplification: Is the reverse of Suppression. With this ability Hunter can amplify the intensity of the emotion in question. Making a happy person ecstatic, an annoyed person agitated and maybe even angry. The ability at its max would allow for amplification of every emotion being felt by the subject at that time. Which could overload a person's brain if the subject was already in a heightened emotional state. Ex. Felling quite a few emotions at once. (Inactive Icly/No Stunts)

As a side note, Empathic Amplification and Suppression can't be used to fabricate emotions from nowhere. The emotion must be felt on some level to affect it. Even with full control over his powers Hunter can only manipulate what is already there and nothing more. So a brave man could be made less confident with suppression or if he is already frightened that could be amplified to a state of panic. If the man isn't afraid at all then he can't be put into a state of panic.

Examples of uses for Suppression/Amplification. You can't make a person who just won the lottery suicidal, and the reverse is true for a suicidal person. What he can do is suppress the suicidal tendencies enough to hopefully make them less sad, maybe depressed, or even just at a content medium depending on the role. The reverse is true also; you can make them sadder more prone to jump then they already were. As for the lottery winner, make him/her even more overjoyed or just happy instead of ecstatic.

Empathic Sense/Emotion Sensing

Empathic Sense/Emotional Sensing: Is the mental ability to feel or experience the emotions of others. One could use this to figure out how someone is feeling, to understand why someone does what they do, etc. This ability of Hunter's seems to always be active in a passive way thanks to his lack of control. He almost can't help feeling the surface emotions of those he meets. In extreme cases he can lose control of this power resulting in headaches among other things.(Active Icly)

Empathic Tracking: This can be used to determine the presence of hidden subjects, because Hunter can sense the presence of emotions, and trace them back to their source. (This could probably just be turned into a stunt at a later point as it is just a use of Empathic sensing. Inactive Icly/No Stunts)

Empathic Projection: Is the mental ability to let others feel or experience your emotions. One could use this to let others feel your emotions. It can also be used offensively to force your emotions onto others. (Inactive Icly/No Stunts)

Note on Empathic Sensing:
Basically the power’s normal range is 10 feet (This might be suppressible if Hunter gains a fair amount of control) and it is always active passively unless Hunter can manage to control it enough to suppress the power. His power itself can read the surface emotions of anywhere from ten to even twenty people at a time. Though that would easily overload Hunter's brain. He can handle about three people's emotions at once without getting a headache. His own emotions would be affected by this causing him to not be able to defer between what he is feeling and what the other three people are feeling. At five people Hunter begins to get a bit of a headache and begins to get swallowed up by the emotions. Ten will set off a migraine which will only go away if he gets to a secluded area to let his brain rest.

Fifteen or so and the boy could end up passing out and even worse if the people around him are feeling rather intense emotions. Twenty could easily hospitalize him as his noise would begin to bleed and other physical signs of damage would appear on his brain. Noise bleed could also happen at fifteen and even ten if the people are panicking or otherwise all in a heightened state of emotion at the same time. His enough's enough stunt will normally attempt to rid him of the emotions if he begins to manifest noise bleeding and can't get away from the people who's emotions he is channeling.

Uncontrolled Uses
Enough’s Enough!!!
This variation of his power isn't really done at will. When Hunter's mind body and soul are overloaded with the emotions of others and begging for some relief his power seems to activate a defense mechanism. A sort of Apathetic state is brought about in order to stop his mind from ripping apart under the pressure of all the emotions he is bombarded with. He suppresses his emotions and his ability to even feel emotions causing his powers to appear temporarily turned off. If only he could stay in this state.

Notes: Normally activated subconsciously in a life or death situation when his mind could shut down if it doesn't get some relief. Can’t be used on command as of yet so not defined beyond activating rarely when overloaded.

Mind Blowing
This is how Hunter's ability first reared its ugly head. The ability is an uncontrolled wild and somewhat above average use of his powers. It forces the boy to pick up on the surface emotions of all the people within the same room as he is or just the general area if he is outdoors. If it is just two or three people he can manage okay for a while but it will wear him down if the emotions are particularly intense. This can cause major headaches when confronted with a class room of kids or walking down a busy street as his mind gets weaker and weaker the more emotions that hit him. This is a use of his Empathic Sensing ability. As he is not aware of this being an ability he thinks that it is his own emotions acting up as part of his medical diagnosis. Sometimes he becomes numb to his own emotions as they are lost in the pool of emotions.

Two Peas in a Pod
This is a particularly severe case of Hunter's power acting up. Taking understanding why someone dose what that do to a whole new level. When there is just one other person around him the boy's own emotions can be replaced by that of the other person's temporary. In a way he morphs into another person emotionally not mentally as that isn't how his powers work. He still thinks like he would and has the same morals just feels different. Pretty much making him feel as they would in any given situation. Hopefully they don't enjoy killing things.

Example: Think Sylar before and after the hunger. Hunter could possible take on the emotional likening of hurting animals after it wore off he would feel guilty and hate that he had done such a horrible thing but while he was doing it he wouldn't be able to stop because of how much fun he would be having thanks to taking on said person's emotional likening to hurt animals. It is beatable with a high enough will roll. Say Great or Superb should be enough to combat the emotional urges he might be subject to though that could all depend on how strong the power is when it affects him also.

Best Friend: 16 year old Emily Green, the childhood friend. Emily and Hunter have been friends since either one can remember. Leaving Emily behind in High School when the migraines set in Hunter can only hope that she'll forgive him for breaking his promise to go to prom with her.

Acquaintances

These are all the people Hunter has met but knows little about. Most people on this list are considered neutral.

Potential Friend: 16 year old Portia Maddox, the musical genius. Having only met this girl once Hunter doesn't know much about her. One things for sure though, she's worth getting to know.

Enemies/Dislikes

If you’re on this list you've crossed Hunter in some way and are not on his good side. He probably wouldn't wish death on you but he isn't going to go out of his way to help you either.

Relatives

All on this list are related to Hunter either by marriage or bloodline. Hunter might have his fights and squabbles but blood is truly thicker than water. The young man would give his life and in most cases do anything to protect these people, the ones closest to him.

Note: He doesn't know much about his father's side other than he has two brothers and a sister. Though he does want to be accepted by his father someday Hunter would probably not feel as protective over that side of the family as he doesn't know them. Not to say he wouldn't care if they died, Hunter isn't one to wish death or pain on anyone.

Mother's Side

Mother: 51 year old Leanna Hodges, the loving single mother. Leanna has lived her life in much hardship. Being the only provider for her family since she was a teenager herself Leanna never was one for huge dreams. She now lives in an apartment building in the small town of Unity not far from her oldest son. She spends most her day doing errands for her son and playing with the grandchildren when they visit. Being disabled and the divorce left her in a depressed state but Leanna managed to get over it. Now she looks forward to when Hunter will visit and hopes for her eldest son to be cured.

Biological Father: 47 year old Thomas Swift, the real dad. Being a party goer most of his life Thomas wasn't about to settle down when he accidently got Leanna pregnant. He already had two other boys and a girl by another woman and that hadn't slowed him down one bit. Now settled down and a working construction worker Thomas now lives with the mother of his first three children ?. All the kids are grown and out of the house except a daughter the age of nine who they have been raising together.

He works for a computer company in networking and is a volunteer coach for his son's team.
