Micah contacts Danko and considers something…

"Rebellious Surrender"

Cyberspace

Lying on his bed in Germany, Micah stares at the ceiling. He's been secluding himself post-video in an effort to lie low among the orphans. Of course, lying low has included his old tricks. With a smirk he reaches for his cell phone and holds it in his hand. After closing his eyes he searches. Feeling his way around the American cell phone networks, he finds the one he's looking for.

The text message is short. Sweet. It comes from Rebel and, as usual, it's in all-caps.

Rebel: DANKO?

The man is sitting in his office is looking serious, he's always looking serious at this point though. Going though a file as his cellphone dings in a message. A grunt of annoyance before he grabs it and checks the message.

Then stares at the phone.

A curse is drawn from his lips as he stares there before he pauses a moment to sit back and glance at it. Finally though he makes a decision.

Yes?

The querry is entered back into the phone.

Narrowing his eyes, Micah is almost puzzled why Danko responded. This is definitely into Charlotte's realm of irrational. The kind of action Micah agreed not to do. But then, Danko's looking for him and has requested a surrender. This changes things, right? Frowning Micah closes his eyes and focuses on texting,

Rebel: I HEARD YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ME.

It's a statement. Not really something worth replying to, so in the moments following he offers a question instead.

Rebel: DID YOU EXPECT ME TO TURN MYSELF IN?

No I didn't expect that. I expected you to contact me.

Danko's text is easy enough to understand, but there isn't much to reply to. Thats why he follows it up easily enough with something else.

I take it someone you know clued you into me?

Rebel: A NUMBER OF PEOPLE I KNOW CLUED ME IN. WHY DID YOU WANT ME TO CONTACT YOU? THE NUMBER AND PHONE ARE UNTRACEABLE.

At least, they're untraceable to anyone without Micah's ability — or, at least, one similar to his.

You are right, the number and the phone are untraceable. I wanted to ask you however to turn yourself in though, and save you and me both alot of trouble. You'll be well treated. You have my word, but I want to give you the chance to do this easily.

Danko's text is short and sweet. Even if it takes a bit longer to write than Rebel's.

Rebel: SO… IF I TURN MYSELF IN, YOUR LIFE IS EASIER.

There's a significant pause before another text comes through.

Rebel: THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT DEAL FOR YOU. I ALREADY KNOW HOW PRISONERS ARE TREATED BY THE AP. I DON'T REALLY WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN.

His lips quirk a bit as he considers something else.

Rebel: WOULD YOU LEAVE MORE OF US ALONE IF I TURNED MYSELF IN? LIKE ONLY GO AFTER ONES WHO ARE DANGEROUS?

No. Your life is easier as well, you just don't know it yet. I will find you Micah, and I will get you again. Its only a matter of time.

The statement is simple and direct, but it seems that Rebel has already made up his mind. Danko pauses though with a slight frown as he looks at the text on the screen.

We can discuss it.

He messages back.

Rebel: HOW WOULD MY LIFE BE EASIER?

There is something to be said for quiet and Micah knows that, but how can he be quiet when so much is going on. He purses his lips as he furrows his eyebrows.

Rebel: YOU CAN'T KEEP ARRESTING PEOPLE BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY COULD DO IN THE FUTURE. I WON'T TURN MYSELF IN IF YOU KEEP DOING THAT…

If it stops, however, Micah would've met his goal. The rebellion would be successful, right? Maybe. But losing his own freedom?

Rebel: WOULD YOU PUT ANOTHER TUBE IN MY NOSE?

Until you can guarentee to me that you and your kind are not a threat to this country then that is exactly what my orders are.

Danko's message is once again typed out with a frown before he walks to the door. He knows its futile, but he wants one of his men to /try/ to trace this thing. Maybe. Maybe they can get lucky.

And no. I would not put another tube in your nose.

Rebel: I'VE NEVER BEEN A THREAT TO ANYONE. I'M FOURTEEN. MOST OF US WANT TO LIVE RELATIVELY NORMAL LIVES. BUT I CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT NO ONE WILL HURT OTHER PEOPLE.

Micah can't deny that not everyone wants to live a normal life. He narrows his eyebrows as he shifts uncomfortably in his bed. Why did he open this can of worms?

Rebel: WHAT IF I AGREE TO HELP YOU FIND THE BAD ONES? LIKE THE ONES WHO LASH OUT AGAINST HUMANS?

You /arn't/ normal. That is the problem. Even the ones that want to live a normal life are dangers to themselves and to everyone around them. The ones that don't want to live normal lives are dangerous in the extreme. Your powers kill people.

Danko sits back to contemplate the text that Micah has entered before he nods once half to himself. He /knows/ he isn't going to get a trace, but he tries anyway at least. However the last text takes him slightly by surprise.

How could you help?

Rebel: MY POWERS DON'T KILL PEOPLE. NOT ALL OF US HURT OTHERS.

He frowns a bit as he considers everything. What would his parents do? What would they have him do? Turning himself in doesn't seem like the best idea.

Rebel: I CAN TRACK PEOPLE FASTER THAN YOU CAN. CAN MONITOR PEOPLE EASIER THAN YOU CAN. YOU WERE EASY ENOUGH TO FIND. PEOPLE AREN'T CAREFUL ABOUT THEIR INFORMATION.

He purses his lips together as he hmms to himself.

Rebel: I NEED TO THINK ABOUT THIS. I WILL BE IN TOUCH SOON. IF YOU NEED TO REACH ME, EMAIL ME: MOC.LIAMG|DATREBIL.LEBER#MOC.LIAMG|DATREBIL.LEBER.

So much to think about and not nearly enough time.

Not you maybe, but some…even most do. I can't take the chance.

Danko's text is remorseless as he narrows his eyes before he adds to his message.

I will send you something to think about then. Think quickly, this is a limited time offer. I can't afford to wait for you to make up your mind.
