Summary:

Kitty and Eric run into each other in the evening while taking walks. Eric totally outs himself. (Yes in that way).

"Shadowman"

Central Park

Later in the evening and the iconic park in New York is…suprisingly quiet. Suprisingly empty, sprisingly pleasent all at once. Its a contemplative figure that walks down one of the many pathways of the park. Dressed mostly in blacks of different shades. His hair close cropped now, very short and the hands are thrust in the pockets of the bluejeans that he wears. His footsteps are silent and soft as the walk, stepping lightly on the stone and concreate.

Every so often that figure reaches out to run one hand aganist a tree or a statue. Thinks that he once knew well enough. A year though changes things, and sometimes ofr the worse sometimes for the better.

Another figure can soon be seen by Eric, she is dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans that are tucked into her black leather boots, the heels click softly on the concrete. White tank top, bright in the darkness. Her dark brown hair spills past her shoulders and down her back, dark brown eyes scanning the area as she walks around.

Kitty has come to the park, after a long day. To relax and just go for a stroll. Her hands swing at her sides idly and she looks up towards the sky as she walks, though every now and then she will check the path to make sure she doesn't run into anyone.

So it’s just wondering then, the young man simply walking and not really paying much attention towards who else might be doing the same. Eric's own eyes are on the path in front of him and they hardly flicker up except to nod slightly towards the woman as he closes on the one in the tank-top. Obviously distracted by his own thoughts, for the moment he doesn't even seem to recognize the woman.

The young woman doesn't seem to recognize the man either until after returning his nod, she stops and gives him a closer look and then a slightly shocked expression is on her face. "Eric?"

Her voice ringing out towards him, her eyebrows raised and hands at her sides as she tilts her head towards his direction, hair is cut shorter.. but those are Eric's eyes. Yup.

At the sound of his name his head snaps around quickly, shoulders tensing for a moment as he takes a step back from the woman. He obviously forces himself to relax then, letting that hardness fall from his shoulders before he shakes his head and takes a closer look towards the younger woman there. A thoughtful frown comes to his face as he thinks…thinks…thinks…

"Kitty?"

The name swims up from the depths of his mind after a moment or three of thinking very hard about it. "Its Kitty right?" Yeah, that was the name. That’s why it stuck, because it really /was/ her name.

"A pretty hard name to forget, right?" she chuckles lightly and walks closer to Eric, her head tilted up towards him so that she can look him in the eye. "Everything going good?" she says to the man and runs a hand through her hair.

She looks different, older even though she isn't. Her eyes have shadows under them, she must not be sleeping that much recently. Her hand is tucked into her back pocket and she shifts her weight to one hip. "Nobody knows where you've been.."

"Yeah well…its unique," Eric allows as he returns his hands to his pockets. Eric himself really /is/ older, a year…a year and a half or so. He still looks distracted, wary almost. Eyes flickering up to glance around the gathering shadows every so often. "Oxford. I went back to collage." He adds with a slight shrug of his shoulders.

"Well that's good, you finished with it now?" she asks and her look is one of worry. She wonders what's up with Eric.. "That's a very good school." She comments and then looks around also. "Um, is everything ok? You just kind of left.. no words.. no goodbye party, you know it would have been a wild party." She says at an attempt at humor.

The young woman contemplates getting a vision from Eric but.. she doesn't want to meddle again. Last time it didn't work out to well. So instead the woman just looks at Eric and smiles at him, it's good to see him again, after being gone for so long. "I traveled around the world for a bit.. after the accident." She looks down and then over her shoulder. "I was near Oxford if I knew you were there, I could have come to visit."

Eric flashes a slight grin towards the woman and shakes his head. "Well I was busy then, lots of stuff was going on for me…most of its cleared up now though, and I'm back..dunno for how long but I'm back." Eric replies before he blinks slightly towards her. "…er…I've been out of touch for awhile. What accident?" He asks with a raised eyebrow in the direction of the woman.

"Yes.. the accident was.." Kitty looks away, just thinking about the day brings up a whole lot of emotions. "My parents were killed last year.. in a fire that took them along with the house." She say quietly and puts her other hand in her pocket. "That's why I was traveling, just taking a break ya know?"

Eric falls quiet for a moment before he sighs and reaches across to touch her just lightly on the arm. "I'm sorry, I didn't know." He murmurs towards the woman with clear apology in his voice before he sighs and nods. "Yeah, makes sense. I understand taking a break after something like that. You back for good now though?"

"Thanks." She says and smiles softly at Eric. There was a time when she would have gotten all excited about Eric even touching her, but her crush on the man has grown weak with lack of contact and thinking of him. It's just on the road of friends in her mind now.

"I'm pretty sure I'm here for good, I have to run my mother's company now." She says and shrugs with a light smile, the irony of it all. "Why would you leave again?" she asks with a raised eyebrow.

Eric? Still completely oblivious. He's good at being oblivious really if you think about it. Getting better, but still pretty good at it all. "Anything I can do to help?" He asks curiously towards her before he chuckles softly. "And yeah, I know how hard it is to run a company." He adds with a shake of his head. As for what could make him leave again…

People coming after him?

Seeing friends that don't want to see him anymore?

Assassination attempts against his life?

"…oh I don't know. Just life in general kinda has taken me away from here lately is all. I just came back in town to check on something myself…I didn't really know I'd run into anyone I knew besides Jaden."

"Thanks." She says and smiles softly at Eric. There was a time when she would have gotten all excited about Eric even touching her, but her crush on the man has grown weak with lack of contact and thinking of him. It's just on the road of friends in her mind now.

"Ah, so you're being secretive and not visiting people like Elena because you might not be staying?" she guesses and brushes a strand of hair out of her eyes. "To help? Well, not really. Thanks for asking though, I would say just stay close and be a friend but.." she trails off and smiles at Eric, she isn't trying to give him a hard time.

"Running Hanner Enterprises is.. sometimes overwhelming, especially working with a board of old, power and money hungry old men. I don't know how my mother did it." She says and shakes her head chuckling. "The urge to just pack up and run for awhile has hit me a few times." She admits.

"Last I heard she moved away and was going to collage like I did," Eric replies when she asks about Elena, though the interest in the eyes of the young man sharpens just a notch at that. "She's back in town as well?" He says as his eyes narrow slightly. A shake of his head then before he gives the younger girl a lopsided smile. "…well…yeah something like that. I didn't want too bother anyone with knowing that I'm back." He adds after a moment. "Was just gonna crash with Jaden for a few days while I got some things done."

"Oh I remember how it is, trust me. I ran Lancaster Electronics for awhile." He says with a sigh and shake of his head. "Its sometimes easier to just let the board do what they want in things, as long as they don't lock you out."

"Oh yes, she's back as well." Kitty nods and she notices the look that Eric gives her, "She just moved back actually." She adds and gives Eric a wide smile. "I sent her a jet and stuff, it's cool to see her and be able to hangout again." Kitty missed her friends dearly, the ones she made while going to college.

"Ah, ok. Staying with the fellow playboy." She teases, she's heard of Jaden through various people. Mostly women. "Going to party before you decide to stay or go?"

"Yeah, I've been thinking of that. I don't want to be a tyrant but some of their ideas.. a little wacko." She chuckles softly.

"Just moved back…" Eric shakes his head slightly. "Bet Peter is all over her already." A wry smile at that before he smiles towards the woman in return. "Well glad you sent her a jet though, that was nice of you." A roll of his eyes then. "Hey now, I wasn't ever as big a playboy as Jaden!" He defends himself with a laugh. "I don't know if there will even be a party or anything!"

"Actually.. Peter and Elena.. aren't really.. uh how do you say.. together?" Kitty blinks, she doesn't really do the gossiping thing. Then her hands start to move and she widens her eyes. "And I totally didn't try to help them by sending Peter to pick her up, because I'm worried about him and if he's wearing himself out and I sure didn't say that a shaman was visiting my house and that's why I couldn't get her even though a shaman totally did visit me." She says and takes a breath.

"Ok.. yeah." she looks down, faintly red in the cheeks. Looks like the rambling habit still rises up at times.

"Oh I knew they wern't," Eric says softly. "She wouldn't be in collage if they were." He says with assurance in his voice as he thrusts his hands into his pockets. A slight narrowing of the eyes then before he sighs and shakes his head. "Thats not gonna help her. Besides knowing Peter I'm sure he has someone el—-" Then he trails off slowly at the now blushing woman with a slight widening of the eyes. "Wait…shaman…how the nine do you know Peter?" He says as he takes jsut a step backwards from the younger woman.

"Wait.. what?" Kit looks confused at Eric and shakes her head. "Me and Peter are good friends, he's helped me a lot. We've worked together." On what she doesn't specify. "Um, did he come and visit you too?" she asks with a raised eyebrow and tilt of her head.

Awkward.

"…so you know Peter…" Eric replies before he shakes his head and seems to slowly relax. Slowly. "…small world isn't it?" He asks with a slightly amused look on his face but the shadows around him dance for just a moment as he sighs and grins slightly towards her. "So he came to visit you did he?"

"Oh every since a year or so ago. I've stopped thinking the world is huge, it's pretty microscopic in my opinion." She says with all seriousness. Then the question about the shaman is asked. "Well yeah, he came to by home. Knocked on my door and told me I had to help this guy Parkman and then not to go to work."

She shakes her head and looks at Eric, "What did he say to you?" Kitty asks.

"…are you talking about Peter or this shaman guy that I know nothing about?" Eric asks with a slight tilt to his head as he watches the woman. "Cause I'm talking about Peter and not the shaman, as I just got in town and have /no/ idea who or what your talking about with that guy."

"Ok, yes Peter came to visit me, he does often." She says quickly, CHANGE THE TOPIC. Yeah, Eric won't notice a thing. She mentally facepalms. Damn girl. She thinks and shakes her head. "Speaking of parties.. I'm suppose to be throwing one for Halloween, a benefit type of thing.. if you're still in town. You should come by, totally hide in the shadows though." She says and grins at him.

"Mmmm. Does he. Just pop in eh?" Eric replies with a shake of his head before he grins towards her easily. "Parties…well I might show up. I don't know if I will or not…but I'll see. I might be around…" Then a flash of great amusement. "Oh yeah…I'm kind of a specialist in hiding in shadows you know."

"Haha, no he doesn't." she swats Eric and puts a hand on her hip. "Well, I hope you show up at the party." She says with an raised eyebrow and then she chuckles. "Oh good with shadows are you?" a grin spreading on her face. Kitty raises an eyebrow at Mr. Walker.

"Well I just might," Eric says slowly as he turns to start to walk off into the growing darkness. "See you around if I do then Kitty. Was good to see you again." He adds over his shoulder as he turns to go. "…and yeah. Yeah I am good with shadows." He replies with a wink towards her before he raises a hand to wave towards her as he steps into the thick darkness of an old oak tree…

…and doesn't walk out again.
