Despite Niki's concern Cam and Micah help the cops…
One Year Ago…
"Their Assets Are Frozen"
Specialty Store — Niagara Falls
Despite Niki's warnings and worried concern, Micah and Cam had used the police scanner he'd already built to find their first case. Their first, ever, SUPERHERO case. Dressed entirely in black aside from a Spiderman face mask he'd found at a local costume shop, Micah is prepped and ready to deal with CRIME. The police had been called to a break and enter. And, as usual, they were slow to get there. While Cam and Micah can't drive, the latter had managed to build small moped engines for their bikes (much to his mother's chagrin) to get them where they needed to go.
And so Micah lingers outside the small specialty shop with his brother in tow. "So… I say we just find a way to keep them there so the cops can arrest them…" No, there really hasn't been any foresight or planning. The pair are doing what teens do best: fly by the seat of their pants.
Cam is dressed much like Micah, but he chose to stick with black for his mask as well. He chose a different type of superhero mask for his own, though, getting a Zorro mask (as per the Banderas movies) instead of something like Batman. He looks to the shop as he steps up by Micah, and says, "Yeah. If we get them outside and on the ground, I can freeze them to the ground? I can jam the door closed, too, but there's windows they could get out."
Nodding, Micah agrees with the idea of getting them out. "Well, then we're going to have to lure them somehow," he whispers as quietly. Not that the baddies will here them; they've broken into this small store. Finally, Micah grins at Cam, "Well then we'll have to keep them out of the windows…" But how? He looks from one window to the next. The pair don't have long to put the plan in motion.
"Can you freeze the windows shut, or is that too much?" If it is, there has to be another way. Another equally effective way. "I can cause a spark inside to pull them out.." He grins at Cam. "And they'd probably want to take the easiest path out if electricity's involved?" It's a question. He wants the plan to evolve as quickly and fluidly as possible.
Cam shakes his head quickly, and says, "Way too much." He considers, and then says, "Yeah, but if we block the door, they'll want to get out even more another way. But… oh! Yeah, we can setup a trap to trip them when they come running out."
"Awesome! Let's do it." Fortunately the pair had utility belts with such tools. "Alright. You block the door. I'll set up something to trip them on the other side…" with rope from his utility belt. "And then we'll meet by the other side…" And then he'll try to give them a shock somewhere. With something in the store.
Cam nods quickly to that and grins, "Ok." He moves up to the door, making a quick glance around, then reaching up to place his hand on the door. Ice starts to grow out from his hand, filling in the cracks and even into the door mechanism itself, blocking the door shut solidly.
And while Cam exercises his talent, Micah sets up a rope at the back door. It's nearly impossible to see in the dark of the night, but that's the way SpiderMicah intends it. He sets up another rope just beyond the windows. He doesn't think they'll choose to go out a window when a perfectly good backdoor exists, but if he and Cam perch outside they can see both at once and then pounce as needed.
Cam quickly runs around to the back of the store once the front door is jammed shut, and he nods quickly to Micah, grinning. "Ready!" He's whispering too, and quieter about it despite his excitement.
Closing his eyes, Micah focuses on a couple of things at once. First, he connects to the store's computer system. Inside the store, two thugs — also dressed in black — are attempting to steal different types of high end clothing items (Prada, Gucci, Armani), but as one attempts to break into the register, it sparks. And beyond that it continues to spark rather angrily.
The larger thug turns to his partner in crime, "We gotta get outta here. Cops'll be here soon!" He runs to the front door which… he can't budge it. He leans into it with all of his weight, but it's useless. The door won't budge. "Sal! IT's stuck!!"
The taller, skinnier thug turns to his partner in crime, the stolen goods held close, he motions towards the back door. "The alley'll be dark, Stu!"
And so the pair, open the door and exit the building. And as they do, they trip over the rope, "WHAT THE?!" falling on their faces as they come outside.
Cam spent the moment while Micah was concentrating creating a layer of ice on the ground. Thin, but big enough it should serve. He's starting to look a little tired, but he doesn't let it stop him. When the thugs go crashing when they come out the back door, he jumps forward, grabbing one of each of their arms and pressing them against the icy ground, and the ice on said ground grows quickly to envelop the arms, thick enough it'd probably take an icepick to break. Cam't really starting to sweat by this point, and he scrambles back quickly once the ice is formed.
Objecting loudly to what's happened to them, the bigger thug (i.e. Stu) attempts to move from his icy bonds, "LET ME OUTTA HERE! YOU LITTLE PUNK!! I'M GOING TO CUT YOU GOOD!"
The second thug is much more resigned about his current state of affairs, instead growling at his colleague, "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT STU MACMILLAN!! I NEVER SHOULD'VE LISTENED TO YOU AND YOUR 'BRILLIANT' PLAN!!"
Tugging on Cam's sleeve, Micah pulls Cam towards their bikes. They need to make a fast getaway, particularly as the sound of sirens can be heard in the distance. "We need to leave before the cops show up…" Who knows how they'd explain this if they had to. That said, Micah leads the way back to the house.
Cam grins at Stu and says, "Yeah, right. Have fun in jail!" He nods quickly then, turning to run after Micah. He's a bit more sluggish now than when they arrived, but he still climbs quickly onto his bike and rides after his foster brother.
