Welcome Aboard

Peter Petrelli's Apartment / Deveaux Building

Energize! Hiro has been in an exceptional mood lately, mostly because all of his careful planning (read: unfocused doing of things) has finally begun to produce some concrete results. He may not look entirely healthy given that he's wearing a new pair of glasses and there is some quite severe around bruising around the bridge of his nose and the inside of his eye sockets, but he doesn't appear to be letting that get him down.

Appearing in the hallway outside Peter's apartment, he knocks heavily on the door so he can be heard and patiently waits. He's toying with a jingly set of keys in his hands and look particularly pleased with himself.

"Just a minute!" comes the cry from inside Peter's apartment. The voice is Gabriel's, for sure, but he sounds as if he's busy. If one were to listen to closely there would be the sound of someone putting things away very quickly— whatever these things might be are anyone's guess. There's another sound that follows, closer to the door this time, a loud thump that suggests something has been dropped right next to the door.

A second later, the door is opened quickly, and Gabriel looks out into the hall, eyes moving downwards after a moment to spot Hiro. A close look of the apartment would show three boxes stacked on top of another directly by the door; this must have been what the loud thumping was. "What happened to you?" the killer says, taking in Hiro's appearance. "Are you alright?"

"I got punched in the face," Hiro answers cheerily enough, "But now we have someone on the inside looking for the healing blood as well as another person who is going to get us the layout of the Pinehearst Building. But that is not the only surprise I have for you."

At least the Japanese man is quick to tell him what happened. It's a far stretch from the usual 'Nothing.' most people choose to say. "Who punched you in the face?" Gabriel says, stepping back from the doorway so Hiro can enter the apartment. "Wait wh—" Gabriel begins, but cuts himself off, turning to face Hiro once he's further in the apartment. "Well, that's good. Should make things easier." He tilts his head slightly, giving the other man a curious look. "Not the only surprise?"

"My friend who is working undercover at Pinehearst," Hiro says in reply as he steps inside, "She did it so the security men would not know that I was investigating them." He doesn't seem all that bothered by his punched nose, however, and he quickly moves on to holding the keys out to Gabriel, "I own a building. Do you want to live there?"

"Oh, well then… that's good," Gabriel says, although he sounds as if he isn't quite sure it's what he should say. In any case, Hiro seems to be okay and unworried about it, so Gabriel figures he doesn't really have anything to worry about. He looks down at the keys, slowly extending a hand to accept them from Hiro, and a look of confusion settles on his face. "Do you want me to live in every apartment?"

Hiro looks a little confused himself, mostly by Gabriel's question. Although he promptly shakes his head, "No. Just one. This key is to use the elevator and this key is for the door and that one will open the windows. I also gave you one to get up onto the roof because there is a good view there and I thought that you might enjoy it."

Looking at the keys, Gabriel takes a long moment of silence before looking back up at Hiro. "Oh," he says dumbly, looking back down at them. "Really?" He takes a look around the apartment they're currently standing in. He was planning on moving out of here, very soon in fact, and while he did find a little apartment on the other side of town he was planning on getting, what Hiro is offering him sounds much better. That, and (hopefully) he probably wouldn't have to worry about going through the motions one would when setting up an actual apartment. He considers it a bit longer, finally looking back to Hiro and giving him a slow, if hesitant, nod. "I… sure. I was going to move into a different one, but this.. sounds a lot better, actually."

"Do you want to come and see it?" Hiro asks, taking another look around Peter's apartment. There isn't anything wrong with it but … people need their own space, "We can teleport there now … ?"

"Oh, uh, sure," Gabriel responds, taking another look around the apartment himself. There isn't anything on such as the stove, so there's no danger of leaving the apartment. "We can go look at it. Which building is it, anyway?"

"The Deveaux Building," Hiro answers, not leaving much time for that to sink in before he reaches out to plant a hand on the man's shoulder and - with concentration - beams them straight into the apartment he has in mind for Gabriel. It is certainly one of the larger ones, one of the family 'homes' that takes up a whole floor near the top. Hiro lived here himself, once upon a time, but being as he's in the penthouse it has to go to someone and if he's trying to show that the rifts between him and the man who was formerly Sylar are mended, what better way?

"The Deveaux Building?" Gabriel repeats, but he doesn't have much time to say more. Next thing he knows he's been teleported across the city, stumbling forward a little bit after they arrive in the new apartment. It's not something he's used to, being teleported. Once he recovers his bearings, he takes a look around. This apartment is much nicer than the one he had in mind across town. How can he really say no to such a thing? "Are you sure?" Gabriel says, turning back to Hiro. "It's… a really nice apartment, but if you need it for other things… I don't want to be in your way."

"There are plenty of apartments," Hiro says with a wave of his hand, "More than enough. I only need the penthouse. And if you're worrying about how to pay rent, I have fixed that, too." He reaches into his pocket again …

"If you're sure," Gabriel says, moving towards one of the large windows and looking out over the city. It provides a nice view. Turning back to Hiro at the mention of rent, Gabriel opens his mouth to respond, but closes it when Hiro announces he has it fixed. Wondering what's coming next, Gabriel's eyes move down to Hiro's hand, waiting to see what comes out of his pocket.

Hiro produces a whole lot of keys attached to a big, metal ring with a little novelty voodoo doll made out of knotted rope attached like a keyring, "I need someone to collect rent and make sure everything is running well. I think the estate agent said the job was called a … superintendent?" He holdsthe keys out to Gabriel, tilting his head slightly, "Hm?"

When the keys come out, Gabriel stares at them for a long time. He knows what the word superintendent means. Hiro is basically asking him to take care of the entire building in lieu of paying rent. It's almost too good to be true. Not having to pay rent, using any extra money he makes working with watches, having free time to work on his own watches… His jawline tenses, eyes narrowing a bit as he looks at the keys. "… Okay," he says, extending a hand to accept them from Hiro.

Hiro drops the keys into Gabriel's hand, smiling happily, "There you go. Welcome aboard!"

Keys in hand, Gabriel looks at them, before finally looking back up to Hiro. "Thanks," he says, offering a small smile to the man, before turning back to the windows. Jingling the keys in between his fingers, he brings them up so he can inspect them in the light coming from the windows. After he looks at them more closely, he inserts a finger through the keyring, giving them a few spins around, the jingling sound echoing throughout the empty apartment. It stops suddenly as Gabriel catches them in his hand, gripping them tightly as he looks out the window, eyes narrowing the tiniest of fractions. He slowly smiles.
